Shaman
The Shaman project was inspired by a series of photographs I captured in Freetown, Sierra Leone. Years later, I was inspired to revisit the images, using them for digital experimentation and collaborations.
The first of these was as part of a projection mapping class. I created an immersive 5-min video which incorporated AI-generated imagery, collaborating with Olivier Lapuente on the sound design. This was presented in the Dadageek group show in Austin (Mar 2025).
The second was with my friends and fellow artists, Jenny and Jay Perena. This collaboration felt quite personal as I had met them both in Sierra Leone and shared fond memories of our time there. The print shown below is from the original photograph, where a dancer is positioned in front of a wall painted bright red. Jay contributed the mask and beads, and Jenny added hand embroidered geometric detailing on the print. These additions really transformed the piece and gave it depth. It was exhibited as part of our collective Dream Walk exhibition at two galleries in upstate NY.
